Geosphere has been providing Geotechnical consultation during the design and construction of athletic facilities across the UC Berkley campus. These facilities include the Hellman Tennis Complex, Evans Diamond and Whittier Field. Geosphere has provided services consisting of subsurface site investigation and geotechnical design recommendations for field improvements, retaining walls, and structural upgrades throughout existing facilities. Geotechnical site conditions have been complicated by the presence of adjacent improvements and foundations and the complex geotechnical conditions at campus: active faulting and strong ground motion shaking.
The Geotechnical challenges involved in the project were as follows:
- Geotechnical site investigation
- Engineering consultation
- Construction observation services
Client / Owner: UC Berkeley
